Cambodia still faces challenges in domestic production for export

According to the Ministry of Commerce’s Strategic Plan for Free Trade Agreement, challenges including business environment, trade facilitation, and the import-export process are not yet implemented smoothly, leading to uncertainties on both time and cost. Particularly, the export market’s manufacturing capacity is still constrained in terms of both quality and sustainability. Some agricultural products are not consistent with the market demand, which lowers market pricing; yet, private sector investment in agricultural product processing is relatively small. Another factor that challenges the boosting domestic production export is electricity costs as it costs high in some industries and has an impact on product quality and quantity as well as raising production costs.
