Model employers: Factories with more than 1% of disabled workers awarded gold certs

The Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation in Cambodia is aiming to increase the number of disabled people in the public sector at least 1% of its workforce. This year, three factories have met the requirements for gold certificates. The Ministry is pleased that their products employ more than the 1% of people with disabilities that are necessary to comply with the Law on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The ministry will oversee and assess the private sector's compliance with the law, as well as host national and subnational forums on employment and the workplace environment for individuals with disabilities. In addition, the ministry will collaborate with non-governmental organizations to offer opportunities for vocational and technical training to individuals with disabilities and to spread information about the Law on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
