Cambodia exported over 6,000 tonnes of peppercorn to international markets in 2023, a 27% decrease from the previous year. The decline is attributed to farmers' and some pepper planters' unwillingness to sell their products due to low prices. The total agricultural exports of the country were over 8.4 million tonnes, a 1.9% decrease from 2022. Pepper exports totaled 6,153 tonnes, a decrease of 26.76%. The global economic crisis has reduced orders from most international markets, including those for pepper products. In 2023, the average price for regular pepper was around 12,000 riel ($2.93) per kilogram, down from around 14,000 riel ($3.42) in 2022. However, by the end of 2023, pepper prices in Cambodia had begun to rise gradually. The country exports pepper to various destinations including Vietnam, Germany, Thailand, France, India, Belgium, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Poland, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and Singapore.
