Guidelines issued for Cambodia’s tour guide

The Ministry of Tourism in Cambodia has issued new guidelines for tour guides and interpreters in order to enhance their ability to provide high-quality services and gain the trust of domestic and international visitors. The directives aim to aid the tourism industry's post-pandemic recovery, with many tour guides returning to their profession. The ministry requires tour guides to follow operational procedures, the professionalism code, and ethics, as well as to wear the proper uniform and display their professional ID and tourism license. They are not to act as tourism agents, instead choosing to contribute to the preservation of the Kingdom's natural resources, cultural heritage, art, tradition, and customs. They must provide accurate information while also keeping their customers' safety in mind. Breaching standard operating procedures will result in warnings, possible fines, and license revocation.
