AFID to boost investment in agri-food

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has established the Agri-Food Investment Desk (AFID) to expand investment in the agri-food ecosystem beyond its restricted levels and to support the development of a resilient industry. AFID's goal is to increase investment in the sector to provide food security, reduce poverty by creating more employment, and promote economic growth and environmental sustainability. The AFID is the sole information technology platform that will give information and assist investors in accessing Cambodia's agricultural resources while receiving favorable incentives under the new Investment Law, CDC secretary-general Sok Chenda Sophea said. Additionally, Veng Sakhon, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries mentioned that the launch of AFID shows our efforts to facilitate and address difficulties relating to agri-food investment facilitation, as well as support the agro-industrial sector.
