Cambodia's primary supplier of cashew nuts to Japan is expected to begin shipments in mid-September, after sending its final shipment in March before Tokyo began asking for an extra certificate, according to the enterprise’s owner. Chey Sambor Cashew Nut Processing Handicrafts began exporting organic processed cashew nuts to the East Asian market last year in partnership with the Japanese company Top Planning Japan Co., Ltd (TPJ). However, Japanese officials have begun implementing the requirement for a supplementary certificate for cashew nuts to be provided by the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, certifying that product quality and packaging meet Japan's most recent requirements. Chey Sambor, an Owner of Cashew Nut Processing Handicrafts In Lai Huot expected that the certificate will be issued "in six weeks" following a successful recent round of inspections conducted in collaboration with the government and TPJ.
