Cambodia begins talks over 2023 wage hike for garment, footwear, travel goods sector

According to a statement from the council, the national council on minimum wage in Cambodia started discussing the yearly rise of the monthly minimum wage for the clothing, footwear, and travel goods industries for 2023. Southeast Asian countries exported pertinent goods worth $6.6 billion in the first half of this year, a 40% increase from the same period last year, based on the data from the General Department of Customs and Excise. The industry's minimum monthly compensation will rise to $194 in 2022 from $192 in 2021, but workers will also receive fringe perks including a $7 housing and transportation allowance and a $10 monthly attendance incentive.
