Exports of "footwear, socks, related products, and parts thereof" totalled $1.04523 billion from January to July, a 33.78 percent increase over 2021, provided a boost by excellent sales to larger markets in the US, UK, and elsewhere in Europe. According to the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE), these commodities accounted for 7.59 percent of total export value during the period, totaling $13.76973 billion. According to Cambodia Footwear Association (CFA) president Ly Kunthai, these data continue to show "positive signs" for these exports. He went on that these exports "significantly contribute to Cambodia's economic growth and employment creation," and that investment in the production of footwear and related commodities has increased in tandem. He noted that exports are predicted to rise this year and next due to the link between these products and travel.
