The Siem Reap Tourism Development Master Plan (2022-2023) action plan has been adopted to increase tourism and re-establish pre-Covid tourist levels in the region. It includes 17 strategies and 37 implementation activities that are focused on 6 main destinations. Minister of Tourism Thong Khon stated that Siem Reap province expects to receive over 100,000 foreign visitors in 2022, with goals to boost that amount to 500,000 in 2023. Among other tourism master plans, Siem Reap is the first to be announced, said Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance. According to the tourist ministry, Siem Reap attracted over 60,000 foreign visitors in the first half of 2022, a 1,025 percent increase over the same time last year.
