The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) reported that the trade between Cambodia and Japan between January and August 2022 reached $1.332 billion, rising 16.86 percent year-on-year, with Cambodian exports to Japan accounting $789.167 million and imports $543.095 million. With this trade upswing, finished goods such as vehicles, electronics and machinery especially for agricultural utilization were imported from Japan while textile-related items, agricultural products, electrical equipment and components were exported to Japan. By keeping an eye out on Cambodian-Japanese relations, Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) vice-president Lim Heng has predicted that investment from Japanese companies will be more increasing; however, Cambodia must put more effort into ensuring products for reaching the international standards.
