Sihanoukville Port’s profit soars 220% on expansion plan

According to a senior official of the port, the state-owned Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS)’s profit increased to about $ 11 million in the second quarter of this year, rising 218.86% compared to last year. The port was generated revenues from charging clients for stevedoring, lift-on and lift-off, port charge for vessel services, and other revenues, including transportation, passenger vessel, and rental fee. Lou Kimchhun, Chairman and CEO of PAS, expressed that the Japan-financed Port Electronic Data Interchange (Port EDI) system made a soft launch to improve effectiveness, efficiency, transparency and cost-saving. Catching sight of bound Cambodian-Japanese relations, Japanese Ambassador Mikami acknowledged that the cooperation between Cambodia and Japan has reached the highest level in history.
