The main construction work on the 4.25ha site was finished on June 30, according to Kampot Provincial Deputy Governor Ung Chhay, and the government is now planning to start deepening the waterway of the Kampot International Tourism Port and making other improvements to make it safer for larger vessels to access. However, the government has given the go-ahead to perform a thorough research on the necessary channel deepening and related works, he added. It is mentioned that the port serves as both a national and an international entry point into Cambodia for visitors coming from both neighboring and distant countries.
