PM says early reopening put country back on growth trajectory

Speaking in the graduation ceremony at the Royal University of Law and Economics, Prime Minister Hun Sen praised the public for participating in fighting against the dreadful Covid-19 pandemic. He also marked the one-year anniversary of reopening the country for boosting Cambodian economic growth by 3 percent in 2021 after declining 3 percent in 2020. According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Cambodian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is predicted to grow 6.6 percent in 2023. With the reopening policy, Cambodia ranked fourth out of 121 countries and top of the pile for the ASEAN region, scoring 76.5 in the Nikkei Covid-19 Recovery Index. Additionally, the new investment law, the free trade agreement and the Regional Cooperation Economic Partnership definitely push Cambodia’s economic growth.
