The Power Development Plan (PDP) 2022–2040 states that Cambodia now has a solar power generation capacity installed of 432MW, which would expand to 1000MW by 2030 and to 3155MW by 2040, representing a predicted increase of over 800% throughout the period. According to the proposal, the current 1,330MW of local hydropower would increase to 1,560MW by 2030 and 3000MW by 2040. Another clean energy source, renewable biomass, will see an increase in power from 27MW in 2022 to 98MW in 2030 and 198MW in 2040. According to the EDC MD, given the progress in technology, the nation could accomplish the goal set for solar power even earlier than anticipated. By doing this, Cambodia's reliance on coal and diesel-powered electricity generation might be significantly reduced.
