Cambodia’s export to Japan up 10% at $1.6B

According to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in the first ten months of 2022, Cambodia exported products to Japan worth $1, 658 million, increasing 10.7 percent from a year-on-year. With the amount of export, the main export products to Japan are garments, bags, footwear, furniture, cosmetics, paper and office supplies and leather goods while the main import products from Japan are machinery, automobiles, electronics, furniture, fabrics, and plastics. To strengthen trade partnership between the two countries, the Ministry of Commerce has announced the plan for negotiations of a bilateral FTA between Cambodia and Japan, is expected to attract more Japanese investment and open a wider Japanese market for Cambodian products. Vice President of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Lim Heng, expressed that the FTA would provide benefits for all, especially market access between Cambodia and Japan.
