In an effort to increase local production of goods aimed at export markets, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries is encouraging and extending the sale of Cambodia's agricultural products to the US and Japanese markets. Dith Tina, the minister of agriculture, promised to continue working with Japan to carry out initiatives that will benefit both nations during the meeting with Japanese ambassador Masahiro Mikami. An increased investment from Japan in premium packaging for agricultural products will assist the nation in expanding its exports to Japanese markets, he continued. Trade between Cambodia and Japan totaled $1.65 billion, of which the Kingdom's imports and exports to the East Asian nation accounted for $664.75 million and $988.39 million, respectively. The garment, footwear, and travel goods sectors have been the main emphasis of exports to Japan.
