Farmers urged to register for China peppercorn export

After China and Cambodia signed a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for exporting peppercorn to China, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has called pepper plantation owners, peppercorn agricultural cooperatives, and pepper processing and farmers who grow peppercorn to apply for registration of pepper plantations and processing facilities for exporting pepper to China at the ministry’s General Department of Agriculture (GDA).In view of the fact that, Cambodia has 6,700 hectares of the area of pepper land, accounting for average yield of about 30, 000 tons, the registration will be potential to access Chinese market and help out to diversify the commodity’s market. After the announcement, the General Department of Agriculture is going to send names of plantations and pepper processing as well as packaging plants to China in early January 2023 in order to verify and then start the official pepper export.
