The construction of Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport built under the 55 year build-operate-transfer (BOT) format with an investment capital of approximately $880 million, began in March 2022 by Angkor International Airport Investment Co., Ltd. (AIAI) has so far achieved over 60 percent, and the investment firm has been committed to complete the construction before October this year. The update was shared in a meeting to review the project achievements in 2022 and set forth objectives foe 2023, under the chairmanship of Tekreth Samrach, Minister Delegate Attached the Prime Minister and Secretary of State of the office of the Council of Ministers. As of the end of 2022, the whole construction was 63% complete behind 70% as scheduled due to the delay of the import of construction materials from China. Anyhow, only little work remained to be done and inauguration is expected to be held in October 2023, he continued.
