Cambodia and Japan have pledged to boost further economic and investment cooperation as they mark this year the 70-year anniversary diplomatic establishment between the two countries. The remarks were made in a meeting held in Phnom Penh on February 7 between Cambodian Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak and Fumiaki Takahashi, president of the Cambodia-Japan Association and former Japanese ambassador to Cambodia. According to the Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia looks upon Japan as a prioritised trade partner. The ‘comprehensive strategic partnership’ between both countries is expected to attract more Japanese investment and open a wider market for Cambodian products.
