Commerce ministry seeks to boost pepper exports

While the nation is negotiating free trade agreements with foreign trading partners, the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) hopes to increase the export of Cambodian pepper. Cambodia has set pepper as the country’s primary agricultural export and is anticipated to make a substantial contribution to the country’s economic growth, generating jobs, income generation, and the decrease of poverty. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, stated that the government has recently considered of establishing more bilateral free trade agreements to open new markets for Cambodian products. Additionally, Cambodia also put effort into the RCEP mega-regional trade pact, signed on China and South Korea free trade agreements, and completed the Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership deal.
