To promote local products and source new markets, the government urged the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and other relevant institutions to work together through national committee for the promotion of One Village One Product Movement (OVOP). Chairman of the committee, Yim Chhay Lay, addressed the opening ceremony of the 6th National Day for the promotion of the use of Khmer products in Svay Rieng province on April 9, held with the theme “Buy Local to Create Jobs for Cambodians”. He suggested that the capital-provincial OVOP committees should work closely with the national OVOP committee to mobilize partners and exhibit local products in order to improve people’s livelihoods by creating products that meet the need of the market. Aside from organizing exhibitions, the national committee also arranges regular networking events for producers and wholesalers, along with some entertainment programs.
