Prime Minister Hun Sen encouraged local farmers to grow the most valuable crops, such as cashew nuts, bananas, and mangos. According to the Premier, Cambodia demands more investment to transition from agriculture to an agro-industry and agribusiness due to the dynamic of agricultural products. On June 14, Cambodia introduced the “National Cashew Policy 2022-2027” with the commitment of making cashew market more competitive and turning Cambodia into the main producer and supplier of cashew nuts for both local market and international market. Additionally, Prime Minister Hun Sen was also enthusiastic about this procedure.
