Prime Minister Hun Sen mentioned that the manufacturing sector is helping to enhance Cambodian livelihoods by creating more jobs. Meanwhile, the government is attracting more investment and gaining access to international market under trade deals. The industry sector represents 38 percent of the nation’s GDP. Under the Industrial Development Policy, it will continue to grow and add new jobs through the new investment flow, the Premier said. Currently, Cambodia has 1,999 manufacturing factories; of which 1,320 factories are the garment, footwear, and travel goods. According to Lim Heng, vice president of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Free Trade Agreement, Regional Comprehensive Partnership, and other trade preferences are the key contributors to draw new investors throughout the country.
