The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) reported that Cambodia and Japan are going to sign loan agreements for road construction and water supply totaling around JPY 26 billion, or roughly equal to $188 million. This loan will be utilized on two projects: 1). JPY $23.7 billion, or approximately $173 million, will be applied for the Rural Road Connectivity Improvement Project 2). the rest is for the implementation of the Siem Reap Water Supply Expansion Project (III). This assistance results in strong cooperation between the two countries and it will also help to strengthen the long-lasting relationship. This year, Cambodia and Japan celebrated the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and in the meantime, upgraded their bilateral relationship to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”.
