Cambodia exports to Japan up 0.4% at $780M

According to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Cambodia has seen an increase of 0.4 percent in exporting to Japan in the first five months of 2023, raising $780 million. Cambodia exported to Japan under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) which offers free trade status that could provide favorable conditions for the country to expand the activity of exporters and importers, boosting the amount of export-import, according to Penn Sovicheat, a spokesman at the Ministry of Commerce. Prime Minister Hun Sen requested the Japanese ambassador to assist in promoting Cambodian products to the Japanese market. He also addressed to enhance the other existing bilateral ties so that Cambodia goods could access more to the Japanese market.
