According to Suong Noy, secretary-general of the Nation Committee for the Promotion of One Village, One Product (OVOP), presently there are roughly 680 products registered under the program and nearly 80 percent of them are available in local malls and supermarkets. The committee additionally urged producers to improve the quality of their products in order to meet local demand and standard. The government’s strategy for advancing the OVOP program is to reduce poverty, discourage migration, and increase the income for producers, farmers, members of associations, communities, and service providers, as stated by Suong Noy. Moreover, this platform has not only contributed to the economic development but also provided a platform for the preservation and promotion of Cambodian culture and heritage.
