According to the Council Development of Cambodia (CDC), Cambodia’s exports via Special Economic Zones (SEZs) hit $1.39 billion in the first half of 2023. Chea Vuthy, Deputy secretary-general of the CDC, stated that SEZs have made major contributions to the country’s economy and serve as a route for investment flow. SEZs were created with the aim of providing investors with “one-stop services for imports and exports, as well as facilitating trade between one country and another. Recently, the CDC published a new draft law on special economic zones with the purpose of drawing new investment to the country through incentives, improved transparency, and fair competition.
