Japan firm eyes up local barley cultivation

Cambodian agriculture minister Dith Tina has urged a Japanese firm to introduce barley to Cambodian farmers and export it to Japan. The ministry stressed the importance of developing the agriculture sector to improve farmers' livelihoods and requires significant investment in value-added processing for export markets. The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) advised investors to research their chosen areas, markets, and growing techniques to avoid market challenges. Barley cultivation is new to the region, so companies must employ appropriate techniques and offer training to farmers. The healthline website claims that barley can help mitigate diabetes and obesity risks.
