The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has announced that construction workers' wages will come in line with those of workers in other industries. This occurs after a union launched a campaign calling on the government to set national minimum wages. The Building and Wood Worker Trade Union Federation of Cambodia (BWTUC) noted that working conditions in the construction sector lack adequate financial safeguards for workers, BWTUC called for improved financial safeguards and amplification of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) coverage for construction workers. Regardless of a worker's status, the government puts a high priority on their welfare and benefits and works to ensure acceptable conditions of work.
