Cambodia has a staggering variety to offer in terms of wildlife and natural beauty. Travel industry stakeholders describe ecotourism as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education." They believe Cambodia has enormous potential for eco-tourism. Despite this, because it is frequently disregarded, the nation has trouble becoming popular as a travel destination. In order to tackle this, Cambodia must develop new eco-tourism offerings, like camping and hiking in the Tonle Sap Lake area and the Cardamom Mountains. These eco-tourism products should not be confused with mass tourism, so careful branding and marketing are necessary. One important aspect of promotion could be direct flights from Europe.
