The Ministry of Environment in Cambodia has planted 416,163 saplings for a campaign to distribute over 1 million annually to the people to plant and restore over 60% of the forest by 2050. More than 700,000 saplings and more than 300,000 palm trees have been provided by the Ministry. It is anticipated that the campaign will be successful, as officials plan to plant a wide variety of seedlings in July. The Ministry has introduced the Environmental Chakra Strategy 2023–2028, which emphasizes sustainability, cleanliness, and greenery. The plan seeks to both prevent climate change and advance sustainable growth. With the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050, the Local Community Development Strategic Plan 2024–2028 seeks to improve local livelihoods through employment opportunities, ecotourism, private sector involvement, and tree planting.
