Cambodia’s rubber article exports rise 90 percent

The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) has reported that Cambodia's rubber exports totaled $215 million in the first two months of 2024, up 90% from the same period last year. In 2023, Cambodia experienced a significant boost in rubber exports, with a total value of $919 million. The Cambodian rubber market is primarily comprised of Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and the EU. The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) has attributed the positive change in natural rubber prices to the unexpectedly tight supply of the commodity, especially as several countries that produce natural rubber are entering the seasonal leaffall period. Moreover, Cambodia has over 400,000 hectares of rubber plantations and 168 rubber processing factories and handicraft centers spread across 11 provinces. The establishment of several tire factories has resulted in increased internal demand for Cambodian rubber.
