National Social Security Fund has warned that factories or manufacturing enterprises that fail to register workers as members of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) or pay their registered employees will face legal penalties. The workshop hosted on March 21, “Towards strengthening social accountability in the Cambodian social protection system”, OXFAM organized in Cambodia and the NSSF. Mr. Sophannarith advised workers to contact the NSSF or labor ministry by calling the 1286 or 1297 hotlines, which are open 24 hours a day. If a business is found hiding workers or not paying contributions, they will face fines. He also urged all fund members to download the NSSF app to check if regular contributions are being made and access any NSSF services. The training course was organized by OXFAM Cambodia and NSSF in collaboration with local media outlet Thmey Thmey.
