Cambodia's Minister of Posts and Telecommunication, Chea Vandeth, has announced plans to launch 5G technology shortly to support the country's digital ambitions. The ministry is working on developing a policy to provide operators with the necessary 100 MHz spectrum for 5G networks. The ministry is committed to connecting the entire country with 5G but has yet to provide a timeline for this commitment. The COVID pandemic has pushed mobile internet usage in Cambodia, putting 4G networks under increasing pressure. Vandeth's 5G comments are part of the ministry's focus on building digital infrastructure. Cambodia's Prime Minister, Hun Manet, praised the country's progress in digitalization.
