Cambodia's $600 million project to electrify its river systems will take over five years to archive, has received its first tranche of $120 million in funding from a major multilateral bank. The project, backed by Belt and Road Capital Partners, aims to fulfill the Cambodian government's 2025 Pentagon Master Plan and 2030 Master Plan, which aim at socio-economic development. This project will divided to three phases. The first phase of the project will involve the installation of up to ten 100 MW solar arrays with complementary LFP electric battery storage solutions. In second phase, mobile "boxable" 20 and 40-foot shipping containers will be used for material distribution. Phase III will connect ten 100-megawatt solar arrays and storage facilities to the national grid. Royal Academy of Cambodia plans to develop electric riverine transport barges and cargo vessels in Southeast Asia and East Asia, focusing on socio-economic development in the region. Companies in South East Asia and East Asia are benefiting from regulations and incentives promoting cleaner maritime transportation technologies, leading to cost savings over time.
