Agri ministry encourages tax e-payment

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has encouraged taxpayers who are obliged to pay non-tax revenue via mobile app, including other public services payment worth upwards of one million riels ($247). Customers are also able to pay through the e-payment system for payment of income from state property and other non-tax revenue if their service provider has provided the option to do so. According to CEO Yang Pak of value chain management company AgriBee (Cambodia) Plc, while the agricultural sector has been especially encouraged to use this mode of payment, the number of users of the service is still limited, and he expects that the use of e-payments in the agricultural sector will become more widespread in the next five to six years. Van Rithy, executive director of Angkor Green's Agricultural Export Department, said his company pays farmers in cash because they prefer this way, despite the company's training on the benefits of electronic transactions (Hom, 2022).
