Cambodia approves fixed asset investment projects worth $2.46 billion in 4 months

According to a report by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), 52 fixed asset investment projects worth $2.46 billion were approved in the first four months of 2022. The approved projects, which are expected to create approximately 47,700 new jobs, consisted of garment, footwear, and travel goods factories, hotels, hospitals, automobile assembly factories, as well as fruit processing and packaging factories. Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, Lim Heng, stated that Cambodia has attracted a large amount of investment capital despite the hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is believed that the inflows of foreign direct investment into Cambodia will rise more in the up-coming year due to the full reopening (Anonymous, 2022).
