Cambodia agricultural product exports rise to 4M tonnes in four months

In the first four months of this year, Cambodia’s agricultural exports rose 5.60 percent to 4 million tonnes compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, the main exports of agricultural products are rice, fresh cassava, dried cassava slices, cassava flour, and a variety of other products surged dramatically, while the export of various fresh agricultural items, such as bananas, and mangoes decline significantly. Yang Saing Koma, founder of the Cambodian Center for Study and Development in Agriculture (CEDAC) mentioned that there were three major causes for the drop in exports included Covid-19 crisis, logistics, and the limitation in export capacity. The ministry has worked hard to promote products of greater quality and safety that meet the needs of importing countries, as well as to negotiate phytosanitary requirements for agricultural products exported to foreign markets.
