According to Minster of Public Works and Transport, Sun Chanthol, the development of infrastructure, roads, railways and ports are necessary due to the country’s economic growth in these past few years. In fact, $1.3 billion was invested by private sectors on a multiple-purpose port in Kampot province to foster the country’s transportation and logistics sectors which will help to bring the value-added production chain. The development of the logistics sector could also boost the export and import of goods, as well as reduce the shipping costs. In the first quarter of 2022, the number of containers passing through the port enlarged to 18,182 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit, equal to an increase of 16 percent compared to 2021.
