According to the report on the key achievements of the Cambodian government from 2017-2021, the bank sector attracted more than $4 billion in foreign investment, which is equivalent to 21 percent of the total foreign investment in Cambodia. The financial depth increased from 88 percent to 138 percent, while the total assets in banking sector steadily increased by 149 percent of GDP from 95 percent in 2017, as stated in same report. Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, Mr. Sum Sannisith, mentioned that the banking system in the kingdom remains resilient and continues to play an essential role in supporting economic growth.
