In the first half of 2022, the number of new registered industrial factories rose dramatically. According to Mr. Heng Sokkung, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, 67 new factories have been opened and have created 57,000 employments in Cambodia. Mr. Sokkung said that the new factories are considered as investors' strong confidence, particularly in Cambodia's economic operations following the government's effective suppression of the Covid-19 epidemic through a vaccination campaign. Mr. Sokkung mentioned that the industrial sector is one of the major drivers of national economic growth. When our industrial sector grows, it contributes significantly to the economy. He added that Cambodia exported $7,606 million of goods to foreign markets in the first four months of this year.
