Following this year's severe rainfall and flooding, the Agriculture Ministry has published rice cultivation guidelines. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, stated that the rainy season arrived early this year, affecting rice planting in the central lowlands. Consequently, the Ministry set out some guidelines to boost rice productivity. First, verify the rate of cultivation, identify the major causes for the delay in planting rice, and give immediate solutions to the problem. Second, encourage slow-paced cultivation and spread techniques under the agro-environmental system's circumstances. Third, be ready to intervene, plow, harrow, and release water from fields to flood-affected farmers. Finally, collaborate with local officials to assess crop damage and make a request to the Secretariat of Cambodia's Food Reserve System for rice seeds and prompt restoration.
